The Coast

Over the Fourth of July weekend we headed for the Oregon and Washington coast. We stayed in a hotel/hostel in Astoria and took day trips to Cape Disappointment, the Astoria Tower, the Maritime Museum, Ecola State Park, and Cannon Beach. We didn't experience the best weather, as you can see. No pictures were taken on our one sunny day in Cannon Beach--I guess we were too busy playing on the beach with our friends we met up with there.

"Arrrgh, matey. I can't whhhait to test them sea legs ah mine."

This photo was taken three days later than the previous two, but in the same spot.

Love it out there! And wouldn't you know, the last time we went, a few years back, it was mid-February and this bizarre-o hot spell hit. There we were with all the standard "coast in winter" attire and what we needed were shorts! Stands to figure that you'd make a July visit and have to bundle up. But it's still great, poking around out there.
